Been in the hobby for about a year and a half and I wanted to do a little upgrade. Started out with a 36 bow front to a Fiji cube 57 with the cube 20 sump. The tank and stand comes tomorrow so I’m super excited about that. I’m going to run an aqua max cones doc-80 and a sicce sdc 3.0. I’m going with the filter socks for now but looking to upgrade to a roller in the future. I’m using a Maxspect jump right now and the smallest Sdc wave maker. Should I worry about upgrading lighting or flow first going to be trying zoas and lps mainly.

Flow is reasonably cheap to provide - aim for 10-20x of your total tank volume (combined) for all powerheads you add. As for the lighting, if you're primarily sticking to soft and LPS - you should be fine without having to invest in anything new. Start with soft first - and gradually progress to LPS after at least 3 months (minimum) of your tank being stable.

Don't forget regular water changes (10% every 2 weeks) and testing (at least weekly) for nitrates, phosphates and alkalinity. You'll want to add testing for calcium and magnesium when you start adding LPS. Good luck!

Well finally got my tank in after a few delays. Now just a little plumbing to do.

It shouldn’t be too much longer. I’ve got a 36 bow front I’ve had for a year and a half just never had any luck with coral in it.

I’m hoping adding the sump will help. I just had a comline multi filter with a tunze hang on back protein skimmer on the bow front. So I’m thinking this might work out better.
