Welcome to my SPS dominant reef. It’s a Waterbox 190.5, with a soon to be added Fijicube 11EXT to be plumbed into it for a separate softy/LPS patch reef.
Details:
Lighting: 3 AI Hydra 64 (200-300 par throughout tank)
Circulation: 4 MP40’s on reef crest mode.
Filtration: 2 7” filter socks, Bubble Magus Curve 7 Elite skimmer, refugium with macro.
Automation: Reefdose for 2 part, Tunze ATO, Neptune Apex for monitoring.
Parameters (avg) - I match params with my salt (Red Sea blue box)
Ca-400
Alk-7.8
Mag-1200
No3- 1.0
Po4- 0.03
PH 8.1-8.5 ( night/day)
Temp 77
Maintenance & Feeding
Daily - monitor equip, feed seaweed extreme twice, occasional frozen mysis.
Weekly - clean socks, skimmer cup, scrap algae, ATO refill, test ALK.
Bi-weekly - 10% water change (Red Sea blue box)
Monthly - vortech’s citric acid bath, refill 2-part reservoir, check equipment and clean if necessary.
Semi annually - ICP test.
No coral foods, aminos, n03 dosing, co2 media, or any magic potions, just occasional dose of minor trace elements.
I believe the key to my success is due to the following: 1) simplicity in terms of setup, 2) follow maintenance schedule religiously, 3) don’t chase parameters, 4) don’t fiddle much with anything, and 5) this one I feel might be the most important, I have 70 lb mix of real Fiji cultured, Indo, and Aussie live rock mixed with macro dry. This tank has a massive diversity of micro flora and fauna which ultimately leads to its foundational stability.
