I saw this guy hiding out under a rock with his head poking out and swimming around every now and then. He sensed to have a unique character and looked cool so I bought him after the LFS said my tank would suffice as his new home.
I know it’s a filefish but I don’t see blue filefish online when I look it up. What is it called exactly? Also, any tips on care/diet/expectations?

Thank you all in advance!

that is not a filefish it is a tilefish, a blue head i believe from what i can see in the pic

Are you talking about the long bodied fish you have in the picture? It looks like a blenny to me. Or as purplelobst92 said it might be a tilefish, blue flashing tilefish maybe?

Tilefish. Yes that’s what I meant. What kind of tilefish is it?

its a bluehead tilefish, make sure you have a tight fitting lid they love to jump! also make sure you feed him regularly with high quality meaty foods soaked in vitamins such as selcon or vitality. another word of caution avoid having blue moonlighting on at night as i have had a tilefish bash its head into the lid of my tank until it killed itself trying to swim towards the light... for some reason they are attracted to it.
