Are you talking about the light brown stuff? If yes, that's a coral.

Really! When I first got that Manado Live Rock, that patch was all white, just like a corral skeleton. Any idea what corral it is?

I suck at coral ID's. It's an SPS. Perhaps this thread will do better in the SPS sections to the right eyes get on it.

Me? I have nothing to add... except perhaps the correct spelling of Goniopora. ;) I seriously don't know anything about some corals.

My lighting is a cheap LED because I thought I had to wait at least 9 months for my tank to mature before adding corrals, should I upgrade to a t5 ho outfit?

It challenge was for the op. With those clues of its origin and basic body type and growth , you can get some good examples of them in Google images search.

One I found was. stephanocoenia intersepta

What led? How far over the tank and how deep is the tank? It looks like it's doing ok.

That might be ok actually.
I don't belive that's a high light coral, but you'll have time to upgrade if you want to.

Once the coral acclimates for a bit you can move it up too if the rock works.

When folks say sps, it's not always true that it's a high light coral like many acros.

Take a look around the net and see if you can get close to an Id and maybe repost in the coral I'd forums.
