Filter Sock Hole Size?

I am designing a sump. Should I make the hole for the filter sock 4" or a little bit less than 4" like 3.875"?

I am just designing the sump, not making and using the sump.

Most 4 "socks I have are around 4.25" od a little over 3.75 id.
