I have a 12 inch filter sock that is filled up with detritus and water is over flowing out of the top of the sock. My question is to clean this does anyone put it in the washing machine with no soap?

I just flip them inside out and scrub them in the sink under hot running water.

Wash machine, hose, utility sink, pressure washer - there are plenty of ways to clean your filter socks.

Here is a link to an R2R thread that discusses this topic even more. Good luck!

I threw them out and use filter cups filled with polyfil that gets tossed once a week. Best time saver ever. Skimmer goes to old milk jugs that gets tossed also. Nastiness I no longer have to deal with :)

Get multiple socks and when one gets dirty change and wash all them same time. I rince the socks clean with hose then put in bucket until wash day. I have enough socks to last 8 weeks. Wash with two caps bleach on delicate, add extra rince, then soak in ro/di mixed with a produce called safe.
