Final steps to setup

I'm down to my final steps before I add water and get my tank set up. The last thing I need to do is clean the sump/refugium from the previous owner. He left about 1 inch bed of miracle mud in there. Should I save it or get rid of it? My gut say gets rid of it because of potential problems lying in the wake. What to do?

I say get rid of it. you can always add more later...
