Most tank setup locations are hazardous without proper GFCI.

Make sure your living room, bed room, office etc. tank receptacles are properly fitted with GFCI outlets or breakers.

It will cost you a couple hundred or less to be in compliance and potentially save your house, your life or the life of someone you love.

Thanks.

Many moons ago I had a tank spring a leak. I noticed because the water was dripping into an unused receptacle in the power strip I was using for the tank, creating sparks. Had I not been home, I may have burned down the apartment building. From then on, I kept power strips hanging on the wall away from the tanks.

A local guy who ran a frag shop out of his house had a fire from his basement setup, nearly took his house with it.

I hadn't thought about this with my first tank, and when I decided to replace the RS, I installed GFCI's. There was no way to do it with the old tank in place, not enough room.

So there's another plus for replacing the RS.

I do have GFIs but I won't run life support items like return pumps on one. I've had too many trip for no apparent reason. I've seen a cat brush up against one and caused it trip. I run low voltage DC pumps so electrocution risk is minimal.

Thanks for the input!
