What are the pros and cons of fine grain vs special grade live sand? My second tank my mom wants fine grain but i know depending on the sand, certain corals prefer fine or special grads and what type of inverts or fish would I have to avoid with fine or special?

Personally I use nothing but very fine grain sand, 0.1-0.5mm. I find it the most conducive for life and overall biological diversity.

The main downside is that it can easily be blown around in tanks with high flow.

I use exclusively oolitic, because I run deep sand beds. It takes many many months to get weighed down by bacteria so if you go with it raise your flow over time. Smaller more numerous pumps work better and as long as it's not acropora dominated and you don't have fish that dig around in it.... I like the stuff
