Finger Leather

I purchased a finger leather 2 weeks ago. He is doing fine. Opening and closing with day/night cycle.
I noticed this morning that the trunk is ripped open! I didn’t have time to take a picture as I was already late when I noticed. I will post a picture this evening.
However, can he recover? Has anyone had this happen? How to proceed??

My experience with leathers is that they're very resilient. They can split and heal from almost anything, given the time. I'd be concerned with what caused the split so that it doesn't happen again or repeatedly before it can heal.
