Anyone have any thoughts on either of these. Effecency, longevity, etc.

I just replaced my BRS titanium heaters with Finnex heaters and so far so good. Hasn't been long, but they keep temp just as well as anything else I've used. Seems like several folks on here had good things to say about them.

FINNEX!

12 years old.

left outside in the weather to run a hydro system for half that time.

Run dry more than once.

Still kicking!

And this is from someone who uses a variety of Lifegard products!

Most well-known brands offer similar quality. What you’ll want to look for is a model with dry-run protection — meaning, if the heater accidentally runs while out of water (for example, if the water level drops below the sensor), it will automatically shut off. This helps prevent overheating and potential tank disasters.

Well said!

I’ll add that a heater with a digital controller, as opposed to an old-school bi-metal thermostat is highly favorable!
