First 180 gallon build!

Hi guys I’m doing a large upgrade from a 50 gallon hang on setup to a 180 gallon reef ready tank. Was wondering what king of filtration I should Run to handle such a large tank! Any and every response will be greatly appreciated!! Thank you (:

Ps. I am Clueless to what is the best bang and the internet has so much information it’s very overwhelming :(

You need to figure out what you want to do with it. my opinion, I would not go with a canister filter, Marine Depot & BRS both have multiple sumps/filters that you can checkout. I have a Trident Saphirre 34 for my 185 gal. but should have gone with the 39.

My advise would be to go as big on the sump as you feel comfortable with. I would go 48" if it was mine, though something a little shorter gives more room for additional equipment under the stand. Look on Bulkreefsupply, they have a number of options, all of which are good quality.

Go as big as you can fit and afford. That way you have room to add extra pumps for manifolds or different media reactors. I am debating between a 180-225. I can plumb to my basement so I am thinking an old 75 gallon for sump and an old 29 gallon for a fuge.
