First ICP Result

Hi everyone, I’m new to reefing and started my tank in April. This is my first ICP test. Based on the results, I know my salinity is too low and I’ll be adjusting that as soon as possible. Other than the salinity issue, could you please let me know which problems I should address as the top priority?

Looks fine!

Making the salinity higher would solve most things and the other trace elements you wouldn’t have to worry too much about.

Maybe dose iron and manganese as they are easy to DIY and very difficult to overdose? But that is entirely up to you;

Also maybe try to get the nutrients a bit up? Especially phosphates. I like my phosphates a bit higher than that. Nitrate can be higher as well, up to 20 I think is safe

Thanks for the advice, that was very helpful! I also noticed the report mentioned an aluminum leaching issue. Based on my research, it might be caused by the Brightwell Bio Bricks I’m using. I’ve heard from other reefers that their aluminum levels increased when using certain bio filter bricks. However, some people also mentioned that aluminum isn’t a major concern unless it exceeds 500 µg/L, which could start affecting corals. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks again!

salinity adjustment will not affect phos, and yours is so low it is worrisome. I would either feed more or start dosing phos to get this to at least .06. I personally feel .1-.3 is fine.

Thanks! I will try to feed some shrimp daily to help increase the phos.
