I am completely new to reef tanks. I started this tank December 1st with live rock from my local fish stores. I added my first fish, two clowns and a neon dottyback 3 days ago. My tank cycled quickly. I also have snails and hermits I added on week 2. I found what I think is aiptasia so I added 2 peppermint shrimp this afternoon. There are lots of caves and pass through areas. The dottyback goes all over through the small cages and holes. This is a very addictive hobby!

So this is my tank now, should I be concerned with the red stuff growing in the gravel?

A year in. I haven’t invested much time in coral. That’s still to come. The small rocks will be removed later, I’m going to put them in the back of my 75 gallon I’m building next to help with bacteria seeding.
