Yep I decided to start a build thread.

I'm looking in to a skimmer, my tank currently runs with out a skimmer but I am looking to change that! As I'm newer to the hobby, what is your favorite skimmer and why?

My RBTA has been a little closed the past few days. Now it on the move first to the back of the tank. Thankfully it didn't say there and decided to move to the front. I personally don't 100% like it there but it's whatever lol..

Okay so update on my RBTA. So I'm doing my best to nurse it back to health and I think I'm doing good! Btw I think the reason it's tentacles are so small because he ate them.

Today I just received my fire fish in the mail along with some awesome blue mushrooms! The sifting goby seems to not like the fire fish when he get close to his home in the sand. He the sifting goby get some wicked grey stripes when the fire fish gets close.

Update! So the fire fish is living in one of the exits of the sifting goby's home! He also doesn't seen very territorial anyone so yay.

Okay cool. I'll probably give info on the tank later. No worries with the fire fish I have a lid. :)

Probably wouldn't fit with my tank lol. How about the tunze? Any good?
Looks good ;)
Give me a few moments I forgot which aio skimmers work best
Also I don’t think you need a skimmer with the 2 clowns and firefish? But it couldn’t hurt considering you have great equipment otherwise

Yeah I really don't think I need one. My bio load is so low doesn't seem as if I need one. But it wouldn't hurt

I've always thought of refugee though.

The problem is you have a space restraint.
In the back of the bio cube a fuge would mainly add a safe haven for pods. I’m not sure how well it would do for nutrient uptake.
In my opinion I would turn on compartment into a fuge with some cheato and see how it goes then u can upgrade to a skimmer if needed.
Another route you could take is a HOB kinda hacked up diy cheato reactor

I agree, my tank doesn't create much excess nutrients. So I feel a skimmer maybe a little Overkill, and a refugium would be a happy medium.

If you ever want to make testing your water parameters a little bit easier without breaking the bank. I recommend Hannah checkers. Now I'm no expert but these things save me some time, if you are like me and you for instance use API liquid test kit it can take some time to drop all the drops in and then clean the viles. I only have the salinity, alkalinity, and low range phosphate and they still save time! What I've been testing with the API test kit and hydrometer these things are spot on with accuracy, but for me anyway these things were a great purchase.

I’m eventually going to invest into them once I get some corals to frag and sell for some of them. I’m going to get the Red Sea kit for now thought. I hear they are great

The red sea kit really is reliable too. But if you want something fast and easy and bottom line automatic testing, then I would pick some up.
