Step 1 Completed March 2020 - Whole home generator installed.
It's not specific to the tank build but it seems to be a good insurance policy going forward to keep things running.

Step 2 Choosing flooring for the room the tank will be in. Will be on a cement slab. Thinking ceramic tile or possibly the waterproof vinyl lifeproof type tile, but not sure if it will hold up to a tank's weight.

I'd also recommend The Supreme Guide To Setting Up A Saltwater Reef Aquarium | REEF2REEF Saltwater and Reef Aquarium Forum. It's a good start and will help with building up a good reefing foundation.
I’ve been in and out of the hobby for 14 years and I’m on my third tank build. I still feel like I’m in the initial learning stages.
A power loss solution like even a small generator is often overlooked by many. You’re on the right track from the get-go.
What are your plans for your tank? It sound like you have a nice spot picked out for it. Are you going to be able to have a fish room or a closet to accompany your display?
I only had the area under my tank available to put equipment in for my first two systems. My current tank abuts a wall that has a closet on the other side that I have turned into a fish-closet. I don’t know how I ever managed with so little space in the past.
