Hi,
Hope to get some opinions on a custom tank I ordered.
Hopefully I did not make a mistake in the sizing.
I ordered a custom 4.5ft X 20" X 20" tank.
To fit into my allocated space, max length I can go is 4.5 ft.
Intially wanted to go 2ft wide but it seems to be taking up too much floorspace. So I decided in 20 inch wide instead.
Currently I am using a 2ft x 2ft x 2.5ft deep tank.
2.5ft depth is really a pain, as I get my armpits wet when doing something in the tank.. way too deep. So I decided to just go 20" deep this time.

Is 20" wide and 20" deep ok for "my last and final build "…?

Your last build can be as large or small as you want. There is no determined standard for a good “final tank”. You might end up wanting a fish bigger than that tank can hold, but really, there’s always a bigger fish. The perfect size for a “final tank” is the size that makes you truly happy.

Yes, actually main reason I am getting a new tank is for house my growing fish..
Really wondering is 50cm width is a correct choice, as 2ft wide seems like a usual standard in terms of scaping

I’ve had 18 tall, 20 tall, 24 tall, and 30 tall

I personally like the depth, despite the huge PITA factor… but I wouldn’t say I’ve ever had a tank I hated because it was too shallow

JMO but I think when you have a more shallow tank, having a taller stand can make a HUGE difference
