Fish addition for 30g

I have a 30g tank with a Yellowfin Wrasse, a female Molly, and a small Orange Shoulder Tang. My LFS just got new stock and I’m considering the following:

• Whipfin or Naoko Wrasse
• Purple Queen Anthias or Longnose Hawkfish

Are these compatible with my current fish? I want to add one more wrasse so they can flash at other. And i also have a lid cover the top so not worry about them jump out. Thanks!

Sorry my dude, but all those wrasses, including the one you already have, really need at least a 50g tank. The anthias needs even bigger than that.

The longnose hawk could work as they mainly perch, but only if you didn't already have all the other fish in there.

The biggest issue though is the orange shoulder tang, 30g is not suitable at all for it, they're big swimmers and grazers even when they're small.

So yeah, sorry, not going to work. I would definitely look into rehoming the tang and perhaps the wrasse, and instead get something a bit more suitable for your tank size - a possum wrasse, a firefish, a tailspot blenny to control algae, etc.

For an adult Orange Shoulder Tang (up to 14 inches), a minimum tank size of 180 gallons (around 700 liters) is strongly recommended due to their active nature and need for open swimming space, with larger tanks (700+ liters) being ideal; juveniles can start in smaller setups (around 90-100 gallons or 350L+) but will quickly outgrow them

The tang is around 2inches from mouth to tip of tail so i planned to keep it until it gets bigger then give it away to anyone with bigger tank. But are there no other way i can keep 2 wrasses in this tank? Really love flasher and fairy wrasse and i want to see them flash in the tank once. Could the tank hold only 2 wrasses and a mollyfish?

@i cant think can give you a definitive answer to your question. Regardless of the size, I wouldn't do the orange tang. I see too many reefers who will get a fish at a smaller size with the mindset of "I'll give it away when it gets big" or "I'll just upgrade tanks" and then never end up doing it.

Sorry but you have the wrong idea about keeping these larger fish in such a small tank until they get large enough and rehomed..... This is not good for the fish and its just a matter of time before your tanks gets ich or some other disease. We have to respect the animals we keep, you are not respecting them properly and also not respecting the hobby by doing this.

Pretty sure a pair of flashers shouldn't be in anything smaller than 75g, most ideally 4ft long. They're just very active swimmers.

If you really want to have these wrasses, I think it's time to think about upgrading.
