New tank, started with a pair of clowns. 2 weeks ago added a Flame Angelfish, Orange spotted Goby, and a Yellow Tail Damsel (YTD). Things seemed fine , no real agression obsereved, but the YTD did stake out a corner of the tank. The Flame Anglefish is a cruiser so uses almost the entire tank in his daily rounds. The YTD i could see got a little preturb every time the Angelfish came through. But yesterday it seems the Anglefish has had enough, is constantly chasing the YTD. No biting or anything just chases it the second they make eye contact. Last for a second or two, until seperation within the rock work. Question: Is this behaviour something that can get back to normal over time? OR will i need to remove/seperate them? Im new to everything so its distrubing to watch my nice peaceful tank erupt in to momments of chaos.

How large is your tank?

How much rock do you have?

Answer these two questions and I can give advice.

The flame angel is a cool fish, but if you plan on a reef it will nip at your corals, so it might be best to consider rehoming now. Once again, this also has to do with the above to questions and what you plan on keeping.

If your heart is set on keeping the fish then you can try adjusting the rockwork, or even adding slightly more.

The goal is twofold-
Create more hiding places
Break up routine and territory

Keep in mind if you plan on keeping any LPS, particularly LPS, you’re playing with fire- pun intended 😉

Personally, I would add more rock. I think if you added more caves and crevices for your livestock. It would curb a lot of the aggression
