Fish for 25 gallon lagoon.

I could use some thoughts from others.

I am taking down my 170 gallon and replacing it with a IM Fusion 25 gallon lagoon tank. It would be nice if I could keep some of the smaller fish from my 170 gallon. Does the list below seem like a reasonable bioload or too much?

Flame Hawkfish
2 percula clowns

Wanting to add
Tail Spot Blenny

I’m very willing to revise if it’s too much. It would just make life easier if I could transfer fish that I know are healthy and just have to buy one other since I couldn’t possibly have a tank without a Blenny!!!

Depending on Flame Hawkfish personality, he may be a problem.

Thanks! I’ve had him for a couple of years now and he’s very docile. He’s never even gone after the shrimp. Of course that could change since there won’t be any large fish in this tank to keep him in check.

In my IM 25 lagoon I have 3 Yellow Damsel Tails and a Clown.
IMO the lower profile of the tank benefits coral more than it does fish. Make sure you have a lid.
I would start with your 1st list, I think four is optimal for this tank.

The flame hawkfish MIGHT change personality in the smaller tank as well. But if he's a model citizen that list looks good... Probably maxed out, but good.

Tailspot blennys have a very small bio-load, I wouldn’t even count it. I’d add it to the list.

Mainly because my husband and I are retired, and we would rather do some traveling instead of applying that extra savings towards this large tank. I’m really fine with the smaller tank. After I got the large tank I started enjoying the corals more than the fish anyway.

I think running this skimmerless is fine, but you will need to stay on top of floss/sock maintenance and water changes.

I was looking into a skimmer, but I didn’t want one that can be seen sticking up in the back of my AIO. This tank is in my living room.

I would be fine getting the Tunze comline DOC 9001 DC skimmer. It has a pretty low profile sticking up in back. My research shows that it will fit into the return pump section, but I was hoping to get a larger return pump, and can’t find information on a return pump that will fit into there with the skimmer. I’ll have to research a bit

The IOAOI works really well or the Bubble Magus. I have run both, great products for the money. I have run the Tunze Com on many nano tank, I feel it's harder to dial in and needs more frequent adjustments.

I've run the Bubble Magus Mini Q on my 25 lagoon, as well as the IM NuvoSkim skimmer. Both fit, both work as well as any smaller skimmer will, and neither sticks up terribly high (though still noticeable). I think the Bubble Magus Mini Q maybe performed a bit better, but the Nuvoskim gets the slight nod for looking a little nicer above the tank, if that's a concern for you.

I've never used them, but hear great things about the IOAOI skimmers, and if you follow them here on R2R they seem to do frequent give-a-ways of their gear for reefers to test.

Yes, I have two. Once a month I do have to remove and clean, but I have to do the same with my wave makers.

I have two wyoming whites and a tailspot blenny,sand sifting starfish,3 Nassarius snails, 3 spiny star astraea, also 3
Brittle star fish but probably the size of a quarter (hitchhikers). I run the Bubble Magus Mini Q on one side with carbon and filter floss the other side ceramic media and sock until my n-clear filter roller gets in.
