I am just graduating from fresh water to marine aquarium. My tank=36x18x15 inch for fish-only with One HOB power filter, one HOB skimmer, two powerheads, one inch sand bed,~10kg dry rock, heater, a planned chiller, egg crate lid. My list for fishes to stock:a pair of O. clownfishes, 1yellow watchman goby, 1 fire goby/Purple flame goby,1 Pajama cardinal fish,1 Bicolor Blenny, 1 piston shrimp. Any suggestions for addition and/or deletion. Any suggested sequence for stocking?

This is a 15g tank correct?

Five fish in a tank that small is going to be crowded. I had four fish in my 20g (2 clownfish, a watchman goby and a firefish) and felt like that was just enough.

Personally, I would ditch the clowns and maybe the blenny. A pair of clowns in a tank that small, along with other fish, is going to result in aggression issues. IMO one clown would be better

Welcome to reef2reef and the saltwater side of the hobby!!
if its a 40g your list looks pretty good but I do have some questions
is the egg crate a standard egg crate? because your firefish will definetly shoot through the gaps
what kind of pistol shrimp is it?

The fish list looks good for a 40 gallon, I wonder if you have enough rock. Half of the fish you listed are rock dwelling type fish, each will need his own tight little cave.

Oh, then my math is way off on calculations 😅

Ignore my previous comment; your stock is fine on a 40g tank!

I am having the same feeling that I am not having enough rock. I plan to make up on this.

Randall’s pistol shrimp - if available. Planning to stich a mesh under the egg crate
