Got this guy yesterday. The guy sold me as a male cherry anthias. But I don’t think so. Anyone knows what it is?

Def not an anthia. Looks like a type of squirrel fish or hawk fish.

Any luck on this yet. The only thing that even remotely resembles that color pattern that I could find was Scorpaenodes parvipinnis , but that is an extreme long shot. Colors right, body not. Any more pictures with all fins extended?

Unfortunately not yet. I did some research but not lucky enough to find anything similar. And the guy is hiding somewhere whole day today. Didn’t go out at all. Trying to take more photos if he comes out

There is actually a lot of things this could be. Doing my homework I found a lot of look a likes. Try cite fishbase. I can only browse at random not really knowing fish origin or ecosystem its from.

Wow, that's a great find! Great price, seeing as that's one of the rarest fish in the hobby. You're probably one of the only people to have one.
