Fish not swimming around when flow is o.

I have a 30 gallon with a fire goby, bi colour blenny, 2 clowns, and a flasher wrasse.

For the most part when flow is on the fish don’t seem to swim around all over the tank. Bi colour blenny will stay in his whole at the top with his head out which is normal. But my fire goby and flasher wrasse stick to just staying behind the rocks and in the back left corner while the 2 clowns just staying in the right corner.

When I turn flow off to feed corals tho they seem to swim around everywhere going to different parts of the tank. Why could this be

That's a small Tank for 2 Powerheads. What size Nero's are they and how are they setup?

They are only Nero 3s. And they are on random flow going from 15-40%

I don’t imagine it’s too much as the lost corals are doing just fine in it

seems like you already isolated the issue. flow. maybe try bringing the flow peaks and troughs closer together. i.e 25- 35%. could be the random high surges they dont like.

it is common for clown fish to find a section of the tank they like and hang ou there predominantly. do you turn flow off when you feed the fish? if you do, they could think its feeding time for them too and be getting excited.

No when feeding the fish I don’t tend to turn flow off. They eat fine just chill in their corners

i wouldn't worry too much about it if fish are eating fine. if its a new tank they may need some time to adjust.
