Our male definitely dominates wrasses his size and smaller. Thankfully, he's not out for blood, just a bit of chasing and posturing.

For this reason I wish they would import some attenautus before he gets too male. I also hopes he plays nice with the earlei.

That's basically how mine has been. Or at least he tries to dominate. Those that have chased him back he tends to back off of. :)
So not aggressive enough to really concern me. :D

I'd still love an attenautus as well. :)
And my Eightline didn't overly mind my little female earlei when I released her last night. He came over a few looks and a quick flash, but left her alone after that.
Hmm, I guess I didn't post my earlei pictures over here...

Ummm, unless there's a different type of 8 lined wrasse, the photos above are not an 8 lined wrasse. This is an 8 lined wrasse (Pseudocheilinus octotaenia). Some people, including some websites, incorrectly refer to this fish as a 12 lined wrasse. The scientific species name, "octotaenia" even means 8 (octo).

Yes they are very aggressive towards other Wrasses. This particular one came from Hawaii. 8 lined wrasses from Hawaii have that white stripe from their 'snout' to the top of their head. 8 Lined Wrasses from other areas usually do not have that stripe or the stripe is yellow instead of white.

Actually, we're referring to an Eightline Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus octotaenia)

I just corrected the thread title...

Ahh, I see where I'm confused...

The first post is referring to an "Eightline FLASHER or FAIRY Wrasse" (Paracheilinus octotaenia)

HAHA posted at the same time. Well, the title should indicate Flasher Wrasse, to keep me from getting confused...lol

In fact, I just edited the title, to include "Flasher"

Alright, I'm really nit-picking here, but I don't like people to be misinformed:

Paracheilinus octotaenia is simply the Eightline wrasse. It is NOT a fairy wrasse, as fairy wrasses belong to the Cirrhilabrus genus.

Paracheilinus octotaenia is the Eightline Flasher wrasse (Paracheilinus -> flasher).

Good eyes guys. Yep that is a lunatus female, I have a trio. The male is not very impressive yet, just needs some more time to grow.

Tile fish are awesome. They way they swim, kinda like slinking around. The purple tile fish is the best, you have to see it in person to appreciate them.
