Starting to develop some pretty crazy hair algae on the walls of my tank after the nitrogen cycle, what fish, or tang should i get, i’m pretty aware of bristletooths or even a foxface but are there any other recommendations that you guys have personally expirenced that destroy glass algae

thanks!

I think urchins are alright, I don't know if any fish efficiently can/do eat algae off of the glass

I'll second urchins; they do pretty well with glass algae. Although investing in a good scraper (the TUNZE one was what I used) is never a bad option

Never seen gha on glass. There's nothing but a scraper that will clean glass. Fish, urchins and snails will eat off the glass but I wouldn't call it cleaning because they just leave trails so you can see how dirty the glass really is.

GHA will grow pretty much anywhere. My Tank had quite a bit of it on the back glass. The good thing is that it's very easy to remove from glass.

Scrape it. Fish and inverts will eat it, but they'll never get it all.

how do you guys remove the waste from scraping? the turkey baster only gets the smallest amount at a time so if i scrape a big chunk, 80% of it is getting blown away. I know i could siphon when i do a WC but id rather do that in the sump so i can suck out the detritus that collects

I have a Cannister filter I hang on the side of my Tank that I load with Floss and use to suck up the Algae as I remove it. Works well.

I usually just let the waste go down into my sump and then my filter roller pulls the waste out. If for some reason I have a lot of waste to siphon out (eg, massive Dino’s outbreak!) I will turn off the return pulp and run a Marineland Magnum Polishing Filter in the display tank to save on the filter roller fleece usage.
