Every now and again get the ol’ turkey baster out and Blow! Rinse it out before you use it on the turkey!
I do this once a month. Blow off all the corals (gently) ledges and dead spots. Do a small WC then I dose some home made reef snow and clean my pre filters. It’s almost impossible to cover all dead spots with circulation especially in a well established tank with lots of coral. All I worry about is proper flow for all the coral without blowing them away

It’s what I have been doing for years
Maybe I'll get rid of my tank, hang a UHD 42" LCD on the wall and have your 12 second video on continuous loop.

Aww thank you for the compliment! It is my passion! In my opinion all reef systems are beautiful. Big, small, Fowlr and so on.

How can you be so sure the 42" LCD on his wall isn't what you're already watching? After all, that @Evil1 guy doesn't even have a tank thread.

Yes, I believe so. I hope there isn't another one that is bigger. The snapping I have heard lately was louder coming from the sump. We shall see! 🙂

Do you guys use filter pads in your sump to keep debris from the return area? I have an area between the refugiums (keep live rock in) and the return section that is made for pads. I have never placed the filter pads down. Is that a good idea to use or no????

How often do you change filter pads

Does it matter where it gets installed? I have two choices.:

1) the bottom of the canister would be 12 inches above the sump water

2) the canister would be completely submerged inside the sump

This canister is a real ***** to get into . I stopped using mine .

Filter socks get replaced approx every 3 days. This blue one is in a section that I never did a pad with my past tank. With the mantis in the live rock located in the refug section, I hope it keeps it from entering the return section. I change this filter pad once a month. It's a plastic thick filter pad.
