lol! Well please accept my sincere apologies as my intentions were not to insult you and choice of undergarments or lack there of. Now the plan is to retire, sell my NYC home. Purchase a ranch style home (my only request to the wife is it must have a huge living room to house the tank I want. Everything else is all her decision. That said, my next reef tank will be at least 150 gallons however, if room allows much much larger. No decisions on tank manufacture or anything else yet that’s when you guys come in with advice
How long until retirement? Also, you going to move to another part of the country or another part of NY?

Nj is not an option YUCK! lol. (Sorry FF). It’s either north of the city in Ny state ( not too far from city as all my children and grandchildren live here) or Long Island and I can retire right now if I want but with a penalty to my NYC pension. Actually headed downtown in a few weeks to see what I will walk away with if I go now. Love my job and my staff but dam times have changed. It’s not fun anymore and if I have to take one more BS training class (you all know what I mean) I’m going to snap! lol all said if I wait 2 more years I’ll be at full pension which is 85% of my salary at retirement

Yes, I believe so. I hope there isn't another one that is bigger. The snapping I have heard lately was louder coming from the sump. We shall see! 🙂

Do you guys use filter pads in your sump to keep debris from the return area? I have an area between the refugiums (keep live rock in) and the return section that is made for pads. I have never placed the filter pads down. Is that a good idea to use or no????

I use a screen I printed to keep fish, snails, and Nems from the return pump but I removed the sponge that came with the sump.

First of all, Mister Evil, in order for my boxers to get in a bunch, I'd have to wear boxers.

Hmmm bet that was the noise you heard when rock was in quarantine tank!
Just heard the louder snapping/clicking from the sump again.

What's in the sump though? Any reason a pistol shrimp isn't welcome in the refugium?

I have no problem if it's a pistol. As long as it's not a mantis. I had gotten of a mantis a year ago that was in my display. It had come in on the KP Aquatics rocks. It took months to catch it. It had killed 4 fishes. Just hope it doesn't make its way into the return pump to the DT.

Even if it's a Mantis in the sump you should be fine I'd hope. You can add a grate/screen to the overflow between the return chamber and refugium chamber to help keep it in there? Toss a snail in occasionally for food. You might end up with a pretty one and eventually you could potentially sell it or trade it in.

The 3 older fish are doing well.

New Fishes: The Firefish and Midas blenny don't come out of their hiding hole. They do eat as I observe them when the mysis shrimp floats by their spot their heads grab the food. The Leopard wrasse is up from 4 PM to midnight and spends time following the Radiant wrasse during the time it's awake. One wrasse (in the sand) has been MIA since it entered the tank.

My PO4 and NO3 are high. When I had the 40g DT those numbers were dangerously too low. Should I add more live rock from KP Aquatics and/or biomedia plates like Polyp Lab or MarinePure bricks to help with the PO4 and NO3 numbers?

I may be able to go to Lowes today...after I watch my mom. I need to get conduit pipes to make brackets for my ATI T5 lights.

I don’t know about adding more rock. Have you thought about carbon/gfo reactor! I got the small one with pump from BRS and it’s fantastic.
