Flame angel is really a devil

There is a reason they are listed as reef safe, WITH CAUTION.

It's a crap shoot with pygmy angels, some are model citizens, and others are just rogue *****s.

OOh forgot to mention hook size.....

Size 3 barbless hook is what I used last time I needed a pygmy angel out of my tank.

I have a flameback, multicolor and Pygmy and never lost a coral nor have I seen anything gotten nipped, probably more feeding is better.

You just got lucky.....it is only a matter of time lol. I had a Golden (among others) that was a model citizen for over a year until it got the taste for fleshy coral. I am not saying there are not exceptions, but if I had to bet my life on a dwarf never becoming a problem, I would not take that bet.

The flame is probably picking but you may also have another problem. Just run water test and see if anything is out of whack. I also have a flame and never had issues with it. I added a goni from a friend that wasn't doing well i was just going to see if it would recover in my tank but he ate it quick. I truly believe some pick on the coral thats dying but there is some that just have the taste for corals.

If you love your corals and want angels, you may need a fowlr or go sps with angels. Seems most sps are safe, but not 100%. Also, I don't know of any angel that eats gonioporas.

The flame certainly can be a picker .... that's hardly a surprise. None of mine ever went after montis though, so my guess is the corals were dying which attracts the fish which accelerates the dying.

I don’t know if I’m lucky, there are numerous people who have them without problems, but yea I am happy that they never picked on coral.

I feed 3x a day it’s almost like he’s getting worse he is now picking at my Trachy and it’s not just a nip he’s nipping at it 3x at once so I doubt he’s not hurting it....hooking him today never a angel fish again

Btw the first 2 months he did not nip at any coral ...now he turned physco the 3 main corals I see him attack his my monti which he now has turned brown ...my jack o lantern whatever it is (was) one of my favorite pieces and now he’s going after my trachy...he leaves zoas mushrooms Scolys hammer all alone ....just likes the real expensive ones it seems ....the sump you go they’re nice fish but coral are nicer
