Sad, really sad.
It has been a tough week, this is kind of the icing on the cake. I don't want to go off topic so I will leave it at that.
Probably my favourite fish in the hobby.

I am so very sorry to hear that, I just recently lost my flame hawk to a nasty internal parasite that I couldn't beat in time to save him. He was my absolute favorite fish of all time.So I came home from work tonight and found my Flame Hawk on the floor:(. So depressing, such an awesome fish.

I've had my flame hawk for a little over a year and he is super friendly and pretty funny fish. I have gobies and he has never messed with any of them. He enjoys sitting on top of my glass cleaner at the top of my tank. Truly a great fish to add.
I love my starry blenny!!
My Flame hawk and Starry gets along well. The hawk doesn't get along with my clowns, they are always bickering.
My tang chases after my starry blenny, however.
Yep.
lol
Looking forward to adding a flame hawk once the tank is settled. Everyone seems to have such good experiences with them.
Are they known jumpers?
I’m wondering the same. I’m planning a 60g FOWLR first, may have a couple weedy corals depending on who I choose to stock. Was hoping to get a pair of flame hawks and at least one blenny, thinking an orange spotted. Would entertain a starry or Midas as well, added together, if they’d fit. Tank is tight for a tang so I’m looking at a non-invert grazer. I don’t want them fighting constantly, and I read that the flame hawk can eat small fish.I currently have a flame hawkfish in my 45 gallon tank. He is doing just great and gets along swimmingly with my mocha clowns.
I'm looking at other possible fish to add and I'm not sure if I should go with more semi-aggressive fish or if I could get some additional peaceful tank mates. My flame hawk is about 2.5 inches long so he isn't full grown and he has never laid a fin on my inverts. I still have all snails, my tiger conch, and cleaner shrimp. He definitely seems chill and not too territorial, but I worry that will change with a new addition.
If you have any experience keeping a flame hawk, let me know how it might get along with the following options:
- Midas Blenny
- Tail Spot Blenny
- Purple Firefish
- Coral Beauty
- Orchid Dottyback
- Blue Reef Chromis
Thank you all so much for your time!
Best Regards
