Hi there!
I got this fire fly torch 12 days ago and was happy until two days ago when I noticed it started to retract and just assumed it was just being moody then today I noticed the tentacles became flat! I checked my parameters and it’s all normal.

pH 8.0
dKH 10.5
Calcium 420
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
I need to get another magnesium test

any ideas what could be going on?

poke it. tell us if its soft or hard encrusted tube.

looks like its a worm. can you pick it up with some pincers/tongs? take pic of the worm isolated.

Is that bare skeleton in the middle? Any dying tissue near it if it is bare skeleton?
There seems to be a 1/2 cm of bare skeleton where the flat tentacles are most prevalent

mate, just take it out for now. you don't want it to multiply in your tank before you know its not harmful.

hmmm did that just start? Or was it like that when you got it? If you gently turkey baste where the skeleton is exposed does any junk come out? I had a torch do that and it turned into bjd

We’re talking about the exposed skeleton on the torch frag that’s right above the “worm” that I’m assuming you’re talking about just fyi
