Flesh eating bacteria in tanks????

So my brother called me today and told me one of our Fishing buddies was in the hospital (gonna be ok) because he got a nasty infection from a nick he got on his hand when handling a fish he caught. I know having cuts on hands can lead to staph infections and whatnot when your hand is in the tank because of bacteria in the water but I had no idea it could lead to flesh eating bacteria that can possibly kill you. Holy hell. After my bro called me I googled bacterial infections from fish tanks because I was curious and was surprised that you can get some nasty infections from your tank. I am usually pretty cautious and where the long cuffed kitchen gloves when doing tank work because my hands are always dry and have cracks and scabbed up areas pretty much every day of the year. However, on occasion I go to deep and get water in the gloves. I was cleaning my tank just the other day and got a glove full of water and I also had some really nasty tank water splash in my eyes which burned for a bit. Kinda freaked out after reading some stuff about these nasty and sometimes dangerous bacterial infections. I’d imagine you’d know pretty quick if you had any cuts infected by tank maintenance. Anyway, I think it’s about time to get some long gloves for maintenance. I was thinking these:

Any reason these would not work for general maintenance such as scrubbing glass or moving some things around?

Those are what I use. Never had any problems with them. Which is great, because I have a latex allergy, so I can't use most rubber gloves that are available in store because they all use latex in one way or another.
