Ready this season. Have a new 4KW portable that runs on LP gas. Have 2 tanks that together should run up to 20 hrs. at a 2KW load. Reef Tank with all running is up to 891W. Chiller peaks at 528W tank runs at 363W plus other tanks. Will share an minimize loads if needed. I'm glad I have chiller. A Watt hog at 1/4hp .

Next years big purchase is a good generator. I absolutely hate this whole "storm season" ordeal each year. It's either generator or leave for me now.


I JUST dropped $500 on corals to redo my tank from last years Hermine. Just hate this crap so much.

Work requires me to pull 16 hr days which means I can't put any work into the tank. I've got an ecotech battery this time around.

My neighborhood just lost power. I can't bring my generator online until the morning. The wind is blowing hard. It sound like my roof will fly off. I hope my critters will survive the next 12 hrs without circulation.

Sorry to hear! It'll be tough, but try stirring the tank and using a cup to pour tank water such that the surface is agitated. If you can do this a few times over the next 12 hrs, you may be fine.

Lost power at 8pm, generator on by 8:40. It really whipping out here but I have a porch to keep the generator on. So far the 2 tanks, lights, chiller and fridge are running smooth.

We'll, we've had power flickering but mostly on. We live right on the Lake/Orange county line so it appears to be headed right at us. Silver lining is it's slowly but surely dropping the wind speed. Generator was tested and is running. Have also been draining pool constantly since about 8pm and it's barely keeping up.

Power went out around 1:30am. Generator is now making a racket out back. Only about half of our neighborhood is without power. Worst seems to have passed though we still have very strong gusts. I believe the center of the storm passed just west of us. As I type this the gusts are louder than the generator but only occasionally.

Got my generator going this morning. Everything looks good. my yellow coris is still hiding somewhere. I probably scared it when I manually stirred the water last night. No damage to the house.....yay

We just got power back on! Went through 10 gallons of gas with the generator. Was getting real hot in the house. Prayers for everyone

Looks like we made it out without losing power. A lot around us lost power, we didn't. Whew!

We had two tornadoes chase each other through Springfield Il a while back with out power for 5 days. I feel for you all.

Still no power but tank is doing fine. Temp is right at 79 due to the post storm cooling. Tomorrow will be a different story but hanging onto hope we get power back first. In any case my wonderful wife stocked up bags of ice and freeze packs to cycle through the tank if necessary.

Still running the generator for an hour and then off an hour to save on gas. Assuming everything returns to normal tomorrow and gas isn't an issue I can run it more and maybe even power up a TV lol!

Right on bro..glad you guys made it through ok...we're down here in Broward and just got power back...glad it wasn't like Wilma...we had no power for almost a month back then...happy everyone is safe

Duke is telling us 7-21 days. Frustrating as half of our neighborhood has power. Looking around my house to see if I have a connector that fits the ecotech battery backup port on my MP40. If so, I'll buy a marine battery to run the tank so I don't have to run the generator so much.

The Fire Station I'm Stationed at is still running on a generator. So I will check today when I get home and hopefully my street/area will have power.

That connector isn't common. You'll need to strip the wires and connect to a 12v battery. The outer part of the connector is negative, inner part is positive.

Duke is being difficult, they have their hands full big time with transmission lines down. Transmission takes a lot of work and special equipment to get back up.
