With Irma making her way closer to Florida, I will pull out my generator(knock off the dust) and make sure she 's ready just in case. Next year I am installing a LP Generator with a transfer switch. Who are the lucky one's that already have the LP Generators?

thinking on doing whole house have portable but pain in the butt, in fact I have to clean it up and get it running for maintenance and also the snowblower yay

Oh man I hope not. I lost everything but my clown fish last year from fricken Hermine.

I've now got a backup battery for my vortech mp10 as well as frozen bottles of water ready for the tank.

Most tracks look to have it swinging away from Florida. Let's hope it pulls back out to sea and leaves us ALL alone.

When Matthew came last year a week out I stocked up and stores completely full until about 3 days out, not this year lol

I live way up in WV. I lost my entire first reef because of the durrachio that hit a few years back. When I lose power now the only thing I use my generator for is my reef, light and TV lol. Best of luck next week!

I'm hoping Irma gets distracted and goes wandering off into the Atlantic to never be heard from again. I'm in SC and not FL, but still worried. No generator, but I have a UPS for a computer that should keep a few pumps and a heater running for a little while. I need to get one of those LP generators on a transfer switch and convert it to run on my house NG. That would be the ultimate tank insurance policy there...

Unless that's a massive UPS, it won't last long at all. I tried that during Hermine and it only ran my mp10, on low, for about 10 hours.

Heating the tank won't be your concern, cooling it and keeping the water moving will be.

My tank temp didn't get too bad, it was the water just sitting still, while my fish used up all of the oxygen, that hurt.

I lost it all, even my zoas. You really need to get a D.C. power head and a good sized battery. My mp10 battery backup should get me close to 3 days.

I have 2 Jebao PP8s that are DC and I'm not sure on the power of that battery. I'll have to check the amp hours on it. Keeping the tank cool might not be too difficult unless the temp climbs back up, we're already cooling off for fall. Mid day temps are low 80s, over nights in the low 60s to high 50s.

Who do you report to? I'm a utility engineer, so I have to report as well. Tough pulling a 16hr shift when your home is in need too.

Not in FL but Georgia, and I've got nothing to keep my DT, two QTs, and frag tank alive. Hoping I get power back quickly like when Matthew hit otherwise I know I'm going to have losses. :(

Pulled out the gen and ran it all day yesterday. Filled up on fuel. Usually when I do that it goes somewhere else. Gotta pull the shutter hardware. Ugh.
