I've been using the Aquaforest Phospahte test kit and I always get a reading of zero. For some reason I find it hard to believe.
I have no noticeable algae and I feed like a mad man.

I'm not in the game of chasing numbers but it would be nice to know if I had some levels of phosphate in my system.

So I decided to buy Seachem Phosphorus and put my test kit to the test.

I took a sample of tank water using the AF test vial, added a few drops of seachem phosphorus directly to the sample.
I run the test and still reading of 0.

Should I not be getting a reading above 0 since I dosed phosphates directly to the sample water?

Good experiment. It seems the Aquaforest test is dead.

Does Seachem Phosphorous provide a concentration on the bottle? I just want to cover all bases.

I went out and purchased a Salifert Phosphate test kit today and followed the same steps mentioned above for Aquaforest

When I test with Salifert I get a reading between .03 and .1 for my system

When I dose a few drops Seachem Phosphorus direct to the Salifert test vial the color changes to dark blue..

Test complete - AF Phosphate test kit no good.... In the trash it goes

Here I was testing with AF for the last 6 months thinking I have zero phosphates

Your PO4 level isn’t high, so, all is well.
