I am still tweaking a new setup and having some issues setting up my flow. I feel like particles are blowing everywhere around and not down the overflow through the filter sock. I have a glass-holes 1500 overflow on the far right and a sicce 3.0 returning on the far left about 4 ft high.

I have an RW-8 full power on the front right about 1/3rd down blowing across the tank in the front and an RW-4 blowing across the back also 1/3 the way down on full power. Both are paired running W1 with the sine knob at about half.

The flow seems to work great. I am not blowing any sand but there is enough flow that nothing gathers on top of anywhere on the sand bed. If I turn off the pumps and something settles once the pumps are back on it gets picked up and circles the tank.

My question is shouldn't all the particles make their way down the over flow? Right now they just circle and circle until caught in a rock or are eaten.

I have learned not to bother fighting the overflow.....detritus will find its way there or will be removed via water changes. If you start worrying about directing water towards your overflow, you will drive yourself crazy constantly adjusting the powerheads to satisfy the livestock.

In all honesty, you "probably" should have mounted the overflow in the center, or specifically, THAT overflow. I say that because I have the 3000 installed on my 250. I spoke with Glass-Holes and for whatever reason, they told me to "maximize" the overflow, to center it with at least one return on each side of the tank.

I agree...the overflow normally is in the center to pull water in from both sides of the tank but it appears it is too late for that lol. As the water drains, the detritus will eventually gravitate to that side....even if it is being blown around.
