Can anyone explain how to work out the flow from a MP10 powerhead?

The specs for my MP10 say it's 200-1,500gph, I was previously thinking having it on 50% would be 750gph but I wasn't factoring in the fact that the minimum is 200gph, does this mean if I have them on only 1% that is 200gph? what would 2% be then?....

If you are using the Mobius app, it'll tell you what the GPH is on the top left corner.

As with any power head these numbers decrease drastically as they get dirty

Checked out the manual p, wasn't much help, I've also just realised that the different modes don't work at the lower speeds either, the powerhead just reverted to a constant speed, I think Echotech should be a bit clearer on what modes actually work at different speeds, their claim in the specs for these is that the MP10 is suitable for a 2.5G tank, if the lowest speed the pump can go is 200gph there wouldn't be any water left in the tank!

I also checked out their flow calculator which seems to suggest the MP10 is rated up to 2000gph but the specs on their site has it down at 2,500gph.

More important is the location of the pump, then adjust your flow. I use the Neat Aquatics Wide Flow modification to get more spread, and it allows me to bump up the flow by 20-30% on each mode during my daily cycle between modes without being disruptive to corals and sand. Lowest I run is Lagoon at 10% from 10pm-8am

I assume running this any higher than 20% in your Nuvo 14G would create a sand storm. Highly suggest the Neat Aquatics Wide flow upgrade for your setup. If your MP 10 is Mobius ready, USE IT!

I think you're over complicating this. If you wish to determine the theoretical flow rate, subtract the lowest speed from the highest speed and divide by 100. Now every percent increase is this valves gph added to the lowest speed...in theory, and with everything clean and new. Here's an example using your original numbers of 200 min, 1500 max....

(1500 gph - 200 gph) / 100 = 13 gph per every percent

If I assume 0% is 200 gph, 1% would be 213 gph

And setting at 50%, the theoretical flow would be (13 x 50) + 200 = 850 gph.

And that is all theory!!!

I did have it on over 35%, no sand storm, I do have a 3D printed flow deflector on it tho.

Not sure if it is Mobius ready, I'll look into it, thanks.

I do tend to over think things.

Played around a little and I don't think you are far wrong, most of the modes don't work until you are around 25-30%, so from that I would guess the minimum 200gph flow only increases from around 20%.
