I'm unhappy with my Neptune flow sensors because my system exceeds their rated maximum volumes and I suspect they may be adding a significant amount of resistance to the system. I'm looking for a reliable flow sensor that can go up to 5,000 gph to match my Abyzz A400 pumps. Neptune and Coral Vue, aren't rated for the volumes I'm looking for. I looked at other types of flow sensors including external ultrasonic, mass and magnetic flow sensors. But most of these types of sensors are VERY pricey. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can use? If all the alternatives to Neptune and Coral Vue are as pricey as the ones I've seen browsing the internet, buying only one external sensor might be the way to go and I can check flows in the different plumbing circuits when I do tank maintenance. So, ease of setting the sensor up and its portability would become an important factor. I'm sure there are reefers out there who have high flow systems that monitor flows and I'd greatly appreciate hearing from you!

Where do you measure your flow at. If you pipe your sensor or just temporarily hook the sensor at t the very ended of your return as opposed to the beginning the head pressure of your piping may be enough to drop you in to the 3000gph max of the 2 inch. According to the Abyzz A400 head chart. Only takes 13ft of head to get below 3000

Pool flow meters may be the trick here!

Here's one style that popped up during a cursory search which looks like an easy add-on install!
