Thought you might like to see my starfish "Forrest Gump". For size reference the blue ruler on the stand frame is 12 inches.

He's a BIG starfish! Have you had any issues with him in the tank ... maybe eating fish with his size?

I got him from a local reefer. Actually I got two of them. One was "Forrest Gump" and the other was "Jenny". That was back when I had frags in soap dishes stuck to the corners of the tank. The next morning after I got them several frags were "on the ground". I tried to catch them and the only one I could catch was Jenny. I took her to one of the LFS as a "donation". Never had any more problems with the frag trays so I figured I had gotten rid of the quilty party. Later on I fragged a couple of toadstools and put them on the sand bed. I watched Forrest pull one off the plug and eat it. I'd sell him for cheap if I could find someone who wanted him. He'd be easy to catch now. I put food in the tank and he tries to climb the glass. That's how I got that picture. He's never bothered the fish.

I have one like that. Prob. a bit bigger. He came w/ my tank when I bought it 13 years ago. I never see him bother anything though.

You know, I must have a dozen starfish of several kinds (not counting all the micros). With the exception of a couple of "sand sifting starfish" I've still got every one I bought. How long do starfish live? I've still got ones that I bought 24 Aug 02 and 7 Jun 02.

I had a green brittle star like that, had to get rid of him when he got his taste for snails. Would wrap his legs around the shell and yank em right out! Also had some mystery fish disappearances...... they are piggies!

I caught a green and gold brittle with a soft coral nub in its mouth once. It was put on sump duty the same day:). I'd had it for probably 5 years then with no issues. It never got any fish, though.
