As the title says, I found a sand sifting starfish in a 12 gallon Nano Cube that was given to me pre-cycled. I was taking out the old sand bed to replace it with black sand when I came across the little guy. Should I keep him, even with a new sand bed? I hear they are voracious eaters that should only be kept in large, established aquariums... He's missing a leg, but I just want to keep it from starving.

I've been feeding my fish and coral mysis shrimp on a regular basis, about a cube a day in total. Would this be sufficient to keep him well-fed if he eats the leftovers? I really appreciate any advice!!!

Nope. They eat microfuana in the sandbed. If you replace the sand, it will starve for sure.

Thank you for the replies guys... I will probably be bringing him to the LFS and they should take good care of him. He's been climbing on the glass and just buried himself in the sand for the first time. The leg that is damaged already has a new tip sticking out. Thank you for the advice!
