Found tiny dot months ago....now has grown into....?

Absolutely. Buckroe07 may be right. Wait for the new polyps to mature and it should be easier to id.

Whatever it is, it's good looking for sure!
 
Looks like Acan. Echinata is my guess. There are no separations between mouths.

I HAD the same species in my tank. Lost it in the bryopsis mess a while back and it ended up flipped over in the sand and died. Had about 7 heads on it. I had a lot of trouble getting a solid ID for awhile and in the end we agreed Acan Echinata was about as close as we could get. I WISH I had it still! It was a favorite I got as a birthday present.
 
It's an awesome find! When mine was really happy, it kept sending white strandlike things out all around him. I thought it was dying at first but by the next day, they were all retracted and gone as if nothing happened. I saw it every night. I wonder if was trying to claim territory as it was closes to other corals. I traded it because I felt lie it needed more space and wanted it to grow large.:) they love to eat!

Yeah it was always in feed mode in my tank :)
