Hi guys our fox face has a very large belly and is not eating and hiding away most of the time any idea what might be wrong and what we can do.

Constipation possibly. Or internal bacterial infection. If you could get it into a QT, you could dose the QT with Kanaplex. One of the side effects of this antibiotic can be diarrhea.

Do you have a lot of algae? If so, it may be eating that while you’re not around. When I had a hair algae outbreak mine ate like a pig and got super fat. They’re also a pretty skittish fish, so hiding isn’t too odd. Mine will go from swimming around just normal and then bolt to a rock, change colors, and wedge his spikes out. Weird fish.

No algae, tank is 6 weeks old , all parameters are good and yes weird fish ours does that as well but last 24 hours he’s got very fat and not eating at all, not moving much at all either.
