Fox flame lost yellow tips

Recently my alk spiked from 8.4 -9.1 i notice my Monty polyps hide and caught my alk dosing and tuned it back to the right rate
nitrate is 25 ppm
Phos is unknown I ran outta reagent but I'll get some asap
Cal 395
Mag 1350
My tanks 7-8 months old
It's a shallow tank with 2 g5 xr15 at 35% coral is 5" from top

Like he said, if you keep you parameters stable within acceptable parameters, have even mediocre lighting, decent flow and don’t have any bugs(red bug, black bug, flatworms), it will color up eventually(1-2 months).
You should monitor alkalinity, nitrate and phosphate once a week.

I have the same issue......all 30 of my acros are colored up and growing...my Fox Flame has one yellow tip lol. It has encrusted out roughly 3 inches and has added new branches but no color. I assumed it was lighting because it is off to the side about halfway down but yours is in direct light without color so who knows.

This one is about 2 years old now and here are some numbers. This is a 10 year old, 130G system running 3 X Straton lights, 2X MP40, 2X Gyres.
1.026; 10 nitrate; .15 PO4; 8 ALK; 500 Ca; 1350 Mg, 400 PAR

I’ve also had my share of struggles with the JF Fox Flame. I had the same issue with having it at the top of my tank. I moved it to the bottom and it’s coloring up nicely. It’s has about 125 par. I think it’s new home will be in lower section of my tank.

I have two buddies cooking them pretty hard, and both have bright yellow tips on their colonies. In one tank you can definitely see it’s pretty compressed from too much LED. PAR is 400+. To me it doesn’t look as healthy as it should, but it has bright yellow tips and tips all at the base. Under 20K Radiums it looks better. I’d say give it a good amount of light and make sure the chemistry is dialed in.

This coral is my white whale. Everything in the tank can look great and the Fox Flame looks bad. Definitely not an easy coral to keep IMO.

Thank you and I agree. It is in the enviable spot for light and alternating flow. The more rugged pieces don't enjoy the ideal.

I 100% agree!! I can’t get this thing to do anything but encrust like 4 inches in diameter brown and ugly

I just don’t think this coral likes a lot of light at all. Seems to hold more true colors down at the bottom of the tank while it’s acclimating than it does if you move it up.

Ours lost its tips once placed up in the system and now is doing well around 250. Also not sure the affect of going from leds to mh. Still trying to figure out how they adapt from that transition some do great and others like millis not so well?

Mine pictured above must be getting +400 PAR so not sure sure I agree with some of the others arguing for less light.

Alternating flow is something my colony gets more than most.

I know exactly what you are saying!
My buddy give me a tiny frag and it literally encrusted the entire horizontal surface and finally starting have some tips growing out in the last couple months
