So the situation is I'm going to be breaking down my 90 gallon system and rebuilding it in a different direction. It currently has a GBR clown, Eibli dwarf Angelfish, Marine Betta and a One spot foxface. The clownfish and the marine betta will get moved to my 125. The angelfish will get traded with an LFS as it's an LPS muncher so can't go in the 125. The issue is the foxface. The 125 already has a Yellow blotch rabbitfish. They are both about 6 inches long and happily chunky. I've heard mixed info about mixing them. Color is not similar and head shape is different but otherwise body shape is similar between the two species.

I'm curious if anyone has had experiences positive or negative mixing the two?

Thanks.

i cant think

I’ve never mixed the two however have mixed foxfaces that were 2-3 inch in a holding tank with the dimensions of a 20g tall. IMO it’s possible however you need to have something separating the two whilst they get used to eachother.

Not a Yellow blotch rabbitfish but I have a Fox face and a scribbled rabbit fish which I believe is similar in my 200 gal. display. Have been together for about a year. There was a few weeks where the scribbled chased and tormented the Fox face to the point where I thought id have to take one out but then they started getting along again. It was odd. Just a few weeks - other than that they typically pal around together with no problem what so ever. As I type this they are both doing their daily routine of gulping air together. Id say you might have an issue in a 125 but there is a good chance you won't.
