My fox face has a black ring on its side. Wasn’t there yesterday. I’m thinking that my Blenny has bitten it. Im new at all this and am wondering what I need to do.

I’m sorry to say that these fish are challenging to keep in captivity because they’re prone to this kind of behavior. They change color/spots depending upon how they feel. Fish looks happy!

Which fish is challenging to keep the blenny or the foxface?

I haven’t seen a bite mark like that before. I would think that injured flesh on a fox face would be whitish in color. At least on my fox face it shows healing that way.

I can’t tell the size of the fish from the picture but that ring looks large(?)

The foxface is roughly 4 inches. The black ring is probably a little smaller than a dime.

The blenny is pretty big probably 5 inches

We call our Foxface 'Wolverine', both because of his colouration and the speed he heals after a fight with my hippo tang. Hopefully yours is the same.

Strange. After being razored by my hippo tang, the wound on my foxface was also brown - which got me panicking about infections and the like - but it healed rapidly.

Maybe it does get slightly brown. They do heal fast. I've had mind for almost 10 years and will get scratched now and again. I haven't seen a bite ring before.
