Frag help

So how exactly do u frag stuff? This guy has grown to the rack and I want to move him so he grows on a rock.

I had an lps chalice (different than yours) grow onto my frag rack. I tried picking off the small bits left behind when I pulled the frag off. It didn't work. So the next time it happened, I cut the frag rack and mounted the chunk of egg crate on a frag plug and it grew just fine. The frag totally encrusted the egg crate and ended up selling for more becuse it looked so strange (it takes a buyer who like weird).

I'd break it off the rack by hand. Lots of tissue will be left behind. If you want to make frags from whats left behind, I agree with Ron, cutting off pieces of the egg crate and gluing them to frag plugs would work.

If youre asking how to frag the piece itself, I prefer a dremel with a diamond blade for this sort of thing. There are fancy band saws you can use, but they cost a lot more than dremels and for small stuff like this, I like a dremel anyway.

There is a battery powered Dremel and it works great! I've had mine sit for months and when I picked it up to use, the battery was still charged!

Egg crate is the plastic squares that your frag rack is made with. The small bits that are left behind when you remove the frag plug will (should) continue to grow. But it will just keep encrusting on the plastic. That's why I ended up cutting the dozen squares out of my frag rack with a pair of dykes.

I too agree this is cyphastrea coral, not chalice
You can remove slowly with edge of a credit card

just noticing some darkening on it at about the 11 oclock position on the frag. it is in a mid level light with medium flow. is that the right conditions to flourish for cyphastria and lepastria?

I've seen another post mentioning flatworms may damage/eat them...any truth to that?
