Frag Prices

pricing threads like this are pretty much redundant.
charge what you want. if it sells it sells if it dont it dont.
when you get businesses bickering and posting about prices i tend to laugh!
its even better when one steps out due to the bicker. the bottom line is this sell what you want for what you want. if someone dont like it they can go somewhere else or just not buy. too many times we get places and ppl that want to slander each other in the mist which is utterly stupid and childish. it says alot about a person and those ppl that tend to do that are the ones i will not be buying from.

Good point. I could sell my frags for more, I would just rather see people get good sized, hearty frags that they can grow out and be happy with though. Lets be honest though, no one is putting over $1000 worth of effort into any chalice, let alone a single eye.

Im not saying that people come out and say "This is more expensive, I want it." - At least I hope no one is saying that.

Im talking about the people that are going to buy that $1000 watermelon that looks pretty much like the ones that they are selling for $125 an eye. The price tag difference comes cause someone takes a few nice pictures that makes one color look a little different, calls it rare, and then throws their name in front of it.

Then people get it because they can post a thread or whatever on their ridiculous coral. Im not angry, I just wish that I could have a rising sun. Or a watermelon that actually has some color. :D

Honestly- the accurate pics are the ones that sell the most. When people over-tweak their photo's (it's not right to say they photoshop something- everyone has to photoshop in some way to crop, convert from RAW, balance exposure, etc- you're talking over over-saturating, falsifying color spectrum, etc) most people don't buy them. The people who buy the high-end stuff aren't stupid- they're intelligent enough to notice a fake or accurate pic, and they're not going to continually spend high $$ on pieces that don't live up to it.

I just needed to vent about how ridiculous some of these prices are. Chalices are completely out of control right now...and I cant wait for them to die down.

PS - When this happens, if you want to get rid of a rising sun, or another high end chalice, please let me know. :D

lol- I'd gladly take a rising sun from someone! saw it in person the other day and was not disappointed one bit with it.

Its pretty neat...cherry corals had a "War Paint" that I liked as well, but those would be my two top picks in the "orange" range of things.

Honestly in the past year chalice prices have drastically dropped. There are only a couple that still demand top dollar!

Chalices have actually come down in price quiet a bit if I must say so. Nowadays you get much more of a frag then you use to for the money. There are reefers out there that are true hobbyists (meaning they don't frag to make $$$$), so I would try to join a club a something.

I got a watermelon for $20, a fair price I would say for a couple eyes at a frag swap, and colors are lousy. I realize Im just being cheap, but these prices are still rediculous. There is only one fish club in my area, and it usually meets about three and a half hours a way. Mainly freshwater people as well. There is a reef club out in the western part of the state, but again, three hour drive.
