Was hoping to get some feedback on a plumbing question.

I’m going to add a frag tank onto my main display but would like to plumb the main drain into the current main drain line so the frag tank drain runs through my fleece roller.

Would there be any reasons why this wouldn’t work or be a good idea?

I don't think that would be a problem so long as you have a back up line incase the one going into the fleece roller gets plugged up.

Thanks for the reply! I’ll have another emergency drain so I don’t think that will be an issue.

Another odd question. Since this is a new tank plumbed to my main tank do I need to worry about a cycle on this new tank? I’ll have new dry rock added to the new tank. I don’t want to screw up the mojo on my main tank and not sure if I need to worry about a cycle or anything that can happen with connecting this new tank.

As far as I know you'll be fine the developed bacteria in the sump / main tank should give you a instant cycled tank. I guess you could put your new rock in the sump for a few weeks but I think you'll be ok. I'm no expert but from my understanding you will be fine just plumbing into your existing sump.

Thanks, maybe I’ll run the new rock for a month or two in a separate brute to just give it a bit of a head start. Not in a rush so probably best to take some time.

I'm sure somebody with more knowledge will chime in tomorrow. I'm sure you'll be fine just hooking it up but pre seeding your rock couldn't hurt anything.
