acanthophyllia have a pretty much 100% death rate when fragged, they're tissue is too senstive and bacterial infection sets in very fast even with dips, and if the infection doesnt do it then the stress will which is why they're always wild collected or captive spawned, that's why they are typically higher in price then coral like scolies that can be fragged

Actually ive seen quite a bit of success with these from jbcorals and coral exotic on several acanthos. Takes about 6 months for them circle around and go into a quarantine tank with cipro and other drugs

very interesting, I've never seen an acantho frag sold before from jbcorals and coral exotic, or really any other vendor, were they perhaps an ejection? (where the acantho splits a piece of tissue when shaded to reproduce)

definitely will ask, its pretty cool if they've cracked the code to successfully fragging them, gotta be nerve wrecking doing it to something like a glitter though 😂

is this a glitter?
yup! the definition of "glitter" can sometimes vary from vendor to vendor but are usually a name given to acanthos with the fine speckling like that and command higher prices due to being more sought after and a bit rarer
