I started a little 20 gallon reef and I am just stocking it with frags from my big tank. I want GSP to grow over the back wall. Can I just cut off a piece and glue it directly on the back wall or do I need to glue it to a rock or plug first and lay that against the wall?

Just cut or pull off and glue to back wall. It’s indestructible. I have had meh success with it sticking using glue but once it sticks it will attach itself and take off. Try to find a dirty part on the glass or if you have any coralline algae glue on that and it will def stick.like you said you can just lay against wall and it will climb the wall
