Fragging Question

At what size is a branch of coral suitable for being fragged? I have a pocillopora that im considering fragging once it gets larger.

You can frag an SPS coral from a single polyp but I would wait until you have a branch to frag that's at least 1/2 inch long. That gives the coral a bit more foundation to grow from.

Yes, I usually dip frags in an diluted iodine reef dip. I've had better success since I started doing that.

I have heard the sps don't tolerate iodine as well as softies. How much do you think I should use when fragging sps?

I wouldn't worry bout dipping honestly. I think that rule is more for zoas and soft corals. If you know your tank and corals are healthy just cut the frags, rinse in clean tank water, and they'll be good to go.

If they are staying in your tank, then wait for them to heal before dipping them. If they are healthy, they will encrust onto the plug in 10-14 days. If you are changing tanks, then I dip them in Bayer... not iodine.
